A TRALEE man has become the first person to successfully complete a solo swim from Blennerville to the Maharees on Sunday last, September 2.
Kevin Williams from The Kerries completed the challenging swim in aid of the RNLI Fenit Lifeboat and is still receiving donations if anyone wishes to give something to a worthy cause.
Kevin is a member of both the Kingdom Swimming Club and Tralee Bay Swimming Club and was over the moon to be the first to successfully complete such a difficult swim. "I am delighted to have completed the swim as it is a great achievement. I did the swim under English Channel Rules which means that I had no wetsuit on and that made the swim a lot tougher."
On Sunday Kevin had a team of people working with him and explains that the swim would not have been successful without their help. "I trained very hard and I had a great team working with me on the day. My coach Ger McDonnell put in a great amount of work. On the day I had a team of navigators and Andy Lynch was my eyes from the kayak. None of it would have been possible if it wasn't for everyone who was with me on the day," Kevin said.
For anyone wishing to donate to the cause contact Kevin on 0866030204 or call to Sean Óg's Bar in Tralee or to Mike's Beach Resort in Fenit to sign the sponsorship cards and give a donation.
All donations are very welcome and much appreciated.
