Top accolades for Ballybunion guesthouse
A FAVOURITE north Kerry guesthouse of golfing legends Tom Watson and Ian Woosnam among many others has been named as the Best in Ireland for the second year in a row in a massive vote of confidence for Kerry tourism.
The 19th Golf Lodge in Ballybunion was named Best Irish Guesthouse of 2013 once again this year by popular travel review website Tripadvisor. The award was given based on the glowing reviews posted on the website by delighted guests over the course of the year.
But it's not the only reason owners James and Mary Beasley are celebrating this week as the guesthouse was also named as the only Irish establishment in the top European 25, coming in 14th place.
The Lodge received over 580 individual five-star reviews over the course of the previous year, with most guests giving them the maximum star rating!
"We're delighted with it," owner Mary Beasley said when contacted by The Kerryman. "26 years of hard work and quality hospitality paid off for us through the satisfaction of all of our guests," she explained.
That's precisely what it came down to - giving guests the best possible experience while staying in Ballybunion.
"We take pride in the amount of repeat business we get which is so important in the present-day tourism climate, so this award is something we are really thrilled about," Mary added.
