A YOUNG Lixnaw man has been disqualified from driving for three years after being caught drink driving on Christmas Eve.
A 3am on the night, James Fuller of Kilfeighney, Lixnaw, was followed by gardaí near Lixnaw and his car was seen crossing the continuous white line. After stopping the defendant, gardaí found he was 'very very drunk', Superintendent Michael Fitzpatrick told Listowel District Court.
It also emerged following Mr Fuller's arrest that he wasn't insured to drive the car.
Mr Fuller's solicitor, Patrick Daly, said his client had an open driver policy on another car and believed he was insured. He had been at a house party near his home where he had 'a bit to drink' and took a chance in driving home.
In addition to the three year disqualification, Judge Mary Larkin fined Mr Fuller €500 for drink driving and an additional €300 for driving with no insurance.
