SEVERAL thousand people are expected to Ballyheigue for Pattern Day on Saturday, September 8. It is one of two of the country's biggest Pattern Days and swells to even greater numbers when taking place on a weekend.
The Ballyheigue Pattern - celebrating the birthday of Our Lady - draws hundreds from other counties as well as many immigrants who return home for a day that means much to the local economy.
"It's amazing," Parish Priest Fr Tom Leane said. "And we're expecting a much bigger crowd this year with it falling on the weekend."
