A DIZZYING array of tasty morsels awaits Kerry foodies as the Listowel Food Fair draws near once again; bringing some of the top names in Irish cuisine to north Kerry for another five days of stunning events.
The big name this year is everone's favourite West Cork chef, Fishy Fishy's Martin Shanahan, who will deliver the cornerstone demonstration of the fair, at the Listowel Arms on Thursday night, November 1. The main awards of the week will also be presented on the night.
Back by popular demand is Saturday Kitchen Live, which last year featured local personalities Billy Keane and Vicar Joe Murphy going head-to-head in a frenetic cook-off that went down a storm. More high-jinx are to be expected this year.
TV's Dr Eva Orsmond will also be in town for the Fair, the popular healthy eating guru opening the whole event, indeed, as she judges the Best Emerging Food Product and Kerry Food Hero Awards on Wednesday night at the Listowel Arms.
Farmers will have much to look forward to as well with Livestock competitions plus a farming information seminar with Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney at the Arms Hotel at 8pm on the Friday.
Jazz and tapas at John B's, herbal medicine walks, more cookery demonstrations, literary taste trails, Viking workshops for children and a stunning medieval banquet will add to the fun of the fair. For more details and for entry forms for the many awards log onto www.listowelfoodfair.com.
