HIGHLY prized Waterford Crystal was among a haul of valuables worth thousands of euro that was stolen from a home in Rathass Halting Site at the weekend.
The burglars who raided the home made off with a collection of treasured family heirlooms worth over €3,000, including a large quantity of Waterford Crystal and highly collectable China delph pieces. A flat screen TV was also stolen.
Gardaí believe it's likely that some of the stolen items, particularly the Waterford Crystal, will be offered for sale and anyone who is offered such items should immediately contact Tralee Garda Station.
Waterford Crystal has always been regarded as a valuable collectors' item but since the famous plant closed five years ago the value of some pieces has skyrocketed making them an extremely attractive target for thieves.
