AN EVENING of glamour and high fashion is on the cards in Dingle this Friday night as Coláiste Íde hosts its annual Seó Faisin in the Skellig Hotel.
Raidió na Gaeltachta's Pádraig Ó Sé and fellow TG4 personality Sláine Ní Chathalláin will be the comperes for the event, which commences at 7pm with a classical and traditional music recital by students. The school choir will also perform at the event, which has been organised in association with the school's parents' council and events manager Sinead Doyle.
Designers such as Kathleen McAuliffe, Tina Griffin, Clodagh Irwin Owens and Orla O'Connor will all showcase their new season collections on the night as will local fashion houses Mad Hatters, La Boheme and Strand House in Dingle, along with boutiques from Tralee, Killarney, Ballybunion and Listowel.
"One of our fifth year students, Siobhan Ní Ifearnáin, was recently signed to a modelling agency and she will get to model for the first time to an audience of fellow peers, teachers and supervisors," said Príomhoide of Coláiste Íde, Áine Ní Chearbhaill. Students from sixth and fifth year will also get a turn on the catwalk, along with models from the Norma O'Donoghue Model Agency.
Proceeds from the show will help fund an extensive refurbishment in the school's boarding facilities. The next phase of the school's development plan - upgrading sports and extracurricular facilities for students – is set to commence in late 2013/early 2014.
Prior to the show, an information session for parents will take place in Coláiste Íde commencing at 4.15pm where the issues of bullying and internet safety will be discussed by Dr Mona O'Moore of Trinity College and Paul Hickey of E-Safety.
Tickets for the show are available in Mad Hatters and La Boheme in Dingle.
