A LIXNAW man who went on Stephen's Day bender and smashed a neighbour's garden lamps was fined €100 Listowel District Court for the charge of criminal damage.
Paul O'Brien, 15 Baile an Gharraí, Lixnaw, smashed lamps in the garden of Martin Murphy at The Village on December 26 of last year.
Mr O'Brien was full of contrition in the 'cold light of day', according to solicitor Pat Enright and compensated Mr Murphy for the €460 cost of the lamps.
Mr Enright said his client generally leads a very quiet life. "But every so often he goes on unmerciful skites and in the cold light of day when he realised what he had done he made sure to pay compensation and this was paid, unusually in this case, before the summons."
Mr O'Brien had not been in any difficulty since the event, the court heard. He was fined €100 by Judge Mary Larkin.
