TRALEE based activity tourism business South West Walks is embracing the potential of The Gathering and has joined forces with Tourism Ireland to help promote the tourism initiative in Europe.
Last week Linda Woods (right), the company's founder, travelled to the Netherlands where she joined a team from Tourism Ireland to promote Kerry, South West Walks and The Gathering at the Vakantiebeurs 2013 exhibition, the largest annual holiday promotion event in the Netherlands, which was held in Utrecht.
The exhibition attracts more than 126,000 visitors a year including travel writers, tour operators and travel agents as well as many thousands of Dutch holidaymakers seeking the ideal spot for a getaway.
Over the course of the six day exhibition Linda and her team showcased Kerry and their company to thousands of conference guests as well as advertising the huge array of Gathering Events that are due to take place in the Kingdom over the next 12 months.
"Vakantiebeurs was our first major promotion of 2013, providing an excellent opportunity to spread the word about all the great things to see and do in Kerry. Our message for Dutch holidaymakers is that there has never been a better time to visit Kerry and Ireland's south west," said Tourism Ireland's Netherland's manager Karen van der Horst.
South West Walks Ireland was started in 1994 by Linda Woods. In 1996 she was joined by business partner John Ahern and the company, based at Collis Sandes House in Tralee, has continued to grow ever since with the firm's ever expanding team of experienced guides earning a reputation as one of the best walking tour companies now working in Ireland.
