LISTOWEL-based waste and recycling company South West Bins has sold its refuse collection and skip hire business to rival operator, Killarney Waste Disposal and Clean Ireland Recycling.
The north Kerry company will, however, continue to operate its scrap metal collection business, trading under the name of South Western Scrap Metal Co Ltd.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that there will be no job losses and that wheelie bin customers across north Kerry and Limerick will not experience any disruption to services.
In May, South West Bins owner Eoghan McEnery was ordered to shut his recycling plant in Kilmorna due to planning difficulties. Afterwards he told TheKerryman of his anger at the planning process, saying that if he had his time back he would never have set up business here.
The company's recycling centre at Kilmorna had been dogged by planning issues and last May Listowel Circuit Court ordered that no more dry recyclables may be processed there. At the time, Mr McEnery said the planning system was anti-business.
