Singing away the winter's blues at Marina talent search
WHETHER it's singing the blues, singing in the rain or singing hallelujiah, the Marina Inn in Dingle is the place to be this Friday night for the staging of second round of their January West Kerry Karaoke Competition.
The first round, which was held on Saturday January 5, was a great success with over 20 people turning up to have a go, according to Thomas Kavanagh of The Marina Inn.
"Our judges were Patrick Sheehy of Dingle band Walking On Cars along with DJ Dowdyman; in fairness there were some really good singers and everyone had a great laugh," he said.
The next round is going to be on this Friday with the final the weekend after.
The talent search, instigated by Thomas who is an accomplished musician himself, is seeking to discover new talent in West Kerry and everyone – groups and individuals - is invited along to compete for a €500 cash prize fund. The gang in The Marina Inn also see the event as a way of dispelling some of the post- Christmas malaise.
More information is available at the Marina Inn's Facebook page, Facebook. com/ TheMarinaInn. Round two gets underway this Friday night at approximately 9.30pm.
