Seminars with advice and support

Lixnaw farmers awaiting the IFA fodder delivery to Lixnaw last Wednesday with (far right) IFA Kerry representative James McCarthy.

AS the fodder crisis intensifies, groups Teagasc, Dairymaster, Kelliher's Feeds and North and East Kerry Development (NEKD) have joined forces to host four seminars to help farmers.

The first seminar called 'Supporting Farmers in Challenging Times' will take place in the Listowel Arms Hotel on Tuesday, May 28, at 8pm.

Representatives from each of the companies will make presentations on the night, with Teagasc discussing the best ways to deal with wet land in a talk that will never have been more relevant.

Dairymaster will talk about how to make dairy farming more profitable; Kelliher's Feeds will discuss the value of feeds and the NEKD will address the importance of managing stress in these testing times.

Remaining seminars will be held at the Austin Stack Park GAA Hall in Tralee on Thursday, May 30, at 8pm; An Ríocht Sports Centre, Castleisland on Thursday, June 4, at 8pm; and Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, Dingle, on Thursday, June 6, at 8pm. Entry is free.
