WE'RE all well used to best dressed lady and gents competitions, but in Abbeydorney they do things a little differently – particularly at their annual ploughing championship.

Organisers opt to reward the 'most appropriately dressed' lady and gent at their annual meeting, rather than best dressed. This year's match went ahead in Abbeydorney on March 2, and on Saturday last the winners of the competition were presented with their prizes at McElligott's Bar.

Members of Abbeydorney Ploughing Association were on hand to make the presentation to Ballyheigue's Aileen Corridon and local man Mike Leen, who each walked away with a watch courtesy of Billy Nolan Jewellers, Tralee.

Aileen also received a €100 hamper from Horgan's Deli, while Mike was presented with a €100 voucher from Moynihan and Moynihan Chemicals in Cork.
