IN an effort to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis charity TLC4CF and the Limerick Dialysis Unit, members have set plans in motion for the inaugural Tournafulla 5km Road Race and Non- Competitive Walk, which is due to take place on Easter Sunday, March 31.
This event is designed to suit all levels of athletes, from serious road runners to non-competitive fun runners and walkers, with prizes awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female over the line, as well as the 1st over 40 and 50 and 1st under 18.
The 5km route will commence on the main road in Tournafulla, going via the junction for Mountcollins, and back to the village.
Entry to the race is €10 for runners and €5 for walkers, with funds being divided between TLC4CF and the Limerick Dialysis Unit in Limerick Regional Hospital.
TLC4CF was founded by friends and family of people with CF in Tipperary, Limerick and Clare and is dedicated to improving services for people with Cystic Fibrosis, including a specialised unit at Limerick's Mid Western Regional Hospital which is currently under construction. The Limerick Dialysis Unit in the hospital, meanwhile, provides treatment and care for patients with kidney problems and failure on a daily basis.
