THEY were running for the good of boxing in Ballyduff on Sunday in a Fun Run that also gave participants a deeper sense of the wonderful scenery surrounding the parish.

The 10km Ballyduff Boxing Club Fun Run took runners down the Ferry Road and around the parish before a nice descent to Your Man's Bar where publican John Walsh laid on the refreshments.

"We were delighted with it," Ballyduff Boxing Club secretary and coach Ger O'Grady said. "We had a good turnout and one of the things most people commented on was how lovely and scenic it was which we were delighted to hear."

All the money raised is going towards the cost of the club's new gym, which is all but complete. It represents a new era for the club which trains scores of talented young boxers from the area.
