WHILE many youngsters dream of using their Confirmation money for an X-box or Nintendo 3DS, students in Gneeveguilla put charity back into the heart of the occasion.
Sixth class pupils at Gneeeveguilla National School this week handed over a cheque worth €450 to the Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club, made up of donations from their own Confirmation money.
Every year the school's Confirmation class make a donation to charity from their Confirmation money, deciding on the charity themselves. This year there was a unanimous vote among the 15 students that the money should go to the Kerry Stars. The class made their Confirmation on Tuesday, February 18 and the donation this week is a source of much pride both to their parents and Gneeveguilla NS.
