THE staff and students at Presentation Secondary School had a special guest last week as they hosted a teacher from Tralee's US twin town of Westlake in Ohio.

An international educational exchange programme between the town towns began last week and this saw teacher Colleen Mudore, a staff member at Westlake's Dover and Holly Lane elementary schools, spend a week in the company of the Presentation staff and students who gave up their time to show their guest all Tralee has to offer.

As well as visits to many of the town's cultural and tourism attractions including Siamsa Tíre, the County Museum, and the Tralee Wetland's Centre, Ms Mudore was also the guest of honour at a civic reception hosted by Tralee Town Council on Wednesday evening.

While the cultural visits were a highlight of the exchange visit its main purpose was educational.

As well as spending time in Presentation Secondary meeting with staff and students Ms Mudore also visited Balloonagh Primary, a Montessori pre-school, Tralee I.T. and the Education centre to get an overview of educational facilities in Tralee.

Her visit, and the school twinning programme, was overseen by Presentation's Anne Moran, the head of the school's P.E Department, and as part of the exchange programme Anne will travel to Westlake in the next year.
