TRALEE'S Denny Lane Bistro has been honoured with a prestigious restaurant award by a renowned critic.

The popular restaurant, which is owned and managed by skilled chef and businesswoman Julianne Reen, has won a Paolo Tullio Taste of Ireland award for its night time menu.

The bistro, which opened in 2008 underwent a major refurbishment in March 2012 after which new day and night time menus were introduced.

Paulo Tullio and his team of reviewers from Taste of Ireland visited the restaurant last Summer. Impressed by the high quality fare on offer they made a return visit in recent months leading to a glowing review on the Taste of Ireland website and the presentation of the award which was handed to Julianne and her staff last week.

The Paulo Tullio award is different to the majority of awards given to Irish restaurants in that the business cannot apply to be considered for it themselves and reviews and awards are presented only at the discretion of Mr Tullio and his team.

"The Paolo Tullio Taste of Ireland award recognises the fact that we provide high quality food and we believe it will provide a boost to our night time business," said Julianne the Ballymaloe trained chef and manager.

"Our customers are looking for value for money in a great setting, where they can relax and enjoy themselves with friends. I'm proud of the fact that we can cater for any budget, that's important in this climate."
