CRIME didn't pay for a Listowel man who stole lotto tickets but won nothing - and ended up in court as well.
Jason Barry of 83 O'Connell's Avenue, Listowel, pleaded guilty to stealing the tickets from McKenna's over two years ago. His solicitor, Pat Enright, said his client was having a very rough time when the offence was committed in October 2010, but has since turned his life around. He said his client has had a very difficult life, plagued with addiction problems and job losses, but 'has managed to put a lot of those difficulties behind him.'
At Wednesday's sitting of Listowel District Court, Judge Mary Larkin ordered Mr Barry to pay the €12 owed to McKenna's for the tickets and fined him €80.
