BOOTS Chemists opened their new outlet in Tralee's Central Plaza last Wednesday to a warm reception from shoppers and with a helping hand from Kerry football star Kieran Donaghy.
The new 512 square metre unit at Central Plaza is roughly twice the size of the company's former premises, which was just across the street. The new store includes a full pharmacy, offering services that include prescription medicines, management of repeat prescriptions and seasonal flu vaccinations. Additional services include the Boots Stop for Good smoking cessation programme and the Emergency Hormonal Contraception service.
The store, which is managed by Aine Moriarity, will employ a total of 25 people, creating eight new temporary positions as well as five new full-time positions.
Richard Bradley, Managing Director, Boots Ireland, said: "We are delighted to be bringing more jobs to Tralee. It is because of the strong support we have had from customers in Tralee that Boots has been able to open this amazing new store with a full range of pharmacy services."
Mayor of Tralee Pat Hussey, who was also present at the launch, said: "This boost to the town is what I so eagerly have aspired to and I take this opportunity to congratulate the management and staff alike and to extend good wishes to one and all on this happy occasion."
