LIOS PÓIL's Páirc Uí Bhairóid was the location of another 'El Clasicó' match-up last Sunday as the West Kerry Minor Championship saw old rivals Dingle and An Ghaeltacht go head to head.

After a tense first half, wrought with tentative play in changeable conditions, the scoreline read An Ghaeltacht 0-02, Dingle 0-05.

In the second half Dingle continued to build on their lead and the day ended with a final score of An Ghaeltacht 0-04, Dingle 0-09.

There was much delight as GAA stalwart Johnny Lenihan, representing the West Kerry Board, presented the winners' shield to Dingle captain Patrick O'Connor.

"Today was a special day for our minor players as they lost to An Ghaeltacht twice already this year," Breandán Fitzgerald, PRO of Dingle GAA, told The Kerryman afterwards.

"It shows that if you have belief, patience and commitment in football everything is possible."

"This victory by our minor footballers ends a great year of football for Dingle GAA. Any year you win the West Kerry Senior Championship, the West Kerry U21 Championship and the West Kerry Minor Championship has to go down as one of our best," Breandán added.
