DINGLE Councillor Mayor of Kerry Seamus Cosaí Fitzgerald, had a busy couple of days in New York recently when he and Kerry County Council's Director of Corporate Services and Overseas Affairs, John Flynn got down to the business of promoting Kerry.
The idea behind the visit was to promote Kerry as a business, education and tourism destination and this involved talks with La Guardia University to discuss academic collaboration with IT Tralee and with representatives of Sacred Heart University in Connecticut to discuss forming links with IT Tralee in areas such as the current Nurse Exchange Programme, online academic learning, student exchange and joint academic qualification.
Meanwhile, Dingle Gin and Dingle Vodka were launched in Fraunces Tavern with local woman Mary Ferriter telling people all about what the Dingle Distillery has to offer.
Cosaí attended mass in St Patrick's Cathedral as a guest of the Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and marched in the St Patrick's Day Parade, as a guest of the Kerryman's P&B Association in New York before heading off to a reception in the P&B hall in Yonkers.
