SHEAHAN'S Bar holds the bragging rights on the baize for the next 12 months after the pub's team clinched the Killorglin Pool League in a nail biting decider on Friday night.
It was Sheahan's 'B team' who came up trumps in the end, fending off a spirited fightback from O'Shea's 'B Team' to be named the third winner of the annual trophy.
The event kicks off each November and is played throughout the winter months in seven venues across the town: Sheahans, O'Shea's, Kingstons, The Manor, Paud's, The Fishery and The Kingdom.
Over 100 players picked up cues and the standard was impressive throughout with Friday's final providing a fitting showcase. Sheahan's B stormed to a healthy lead before O'Shea's B fought back to level the scores at four matches apiece. Indeed, in the deciding match O'Sheas were a game up before Sheahan's eventually hit for home.
Meanwhile, the Shield Final saw 'The Maidens' take on 'Team Dave' and it was Dave's charges who powered to the title.
Afterwards, pool league chairman Owen McMahon thanked sponsor Sean Taaffe for his continued involvement in the competition, as well as all the venues, captains and players.
"We have got a nice little league going and I hope to see you all back again next season for more top quality competition," Owen told the gathering.
Killorglin Pool League has rapidly grown to be a respected brand in its three short years and The Killorglin Pool League Invitational is expected to be strongly supported over the October Bank Holiday weekend.
Last year the competition welcomed teams from seven counties.
