A NORTH Kerry mother who lost her son in a road traffic accident nine years ago will share her grief this weekend at a mass of remembrance for all those who have died on the roads of Kerry.
The mass, which takes place at St Mary's Church Listowel at 9am this Sunday, November 17, is being organised by Lisselton woman Ann Tydings whose son, Padraig, was killed in a traffic accident a day after his 22nd birthday.
The mass is open to parents, families and friends of anyone who was killed in road traffic accidents across Kerry, as well as those who were injured in such accidents. Ann explained that a number of parents who have lost children will be reading prayers of the faithful, while members of the ambulance service, the gardaí and the fire brigade will share in the readings.
As well as remembering those lost in road traffic accidents across north Kerry, Ann hopes that Sunday's mass will also allow people to reflect on the dangers of driving and the agony that is left behind following fatal accidents.
Sunday's service has been organised to coincide with World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims.
