THE inaugural Dingle Maritime Heritage Weekend, which focuses on all things marine and pays tribute to Dingle publican and great collector of marine flora and fauna Mikey Long gets underway this Saturday.
Opening the festival Kevin Flannery will deliver an introductory talk on Michael Long before Dr Peter Heffernan, CEO of the Marine Institute officially unveils a plaque in Michael's honour at John Benny's at 12.45pm on Saturday. The lecture series includes talks by Dr Connie Kelliher, Pat Nelligan, Lorcán Ó Cinnéide, Dr Conor Brosnan, Mike O'Shea, Dr Declan Quigley, Dr Wesley Flannery, Bernie Goggin and Nick Massett.
All events will take place either at Mara Beo (Dingle Oceanworld), John Benny's or the Dingle Marina Centre. More information is available at 066-9152111 and a programme will be available locally.
