LIXNAW is the venue for the only Kerry performance in the upcoming Comhaltas Tour of Ireland - featuring two brilliant Kerry musicians.
The Macalla na hEireann tour hits Lixnaw on Tuesday, October 23, next at the Ceolann at 8pm in what is promising to be a great concert for trad fans. It is the presence of two wonderful Kerry musicians that is probably causing most excitement ahead of the Kerry gig.
Seán Hanafin and Tomás O Sé, piano and accordion respectively, will take to the Ceolann stage along with the cream of the other counties for the night. Seán comes from Tralee and is an All-Ireland and Munster champion step dancer as well as a fine traditional pianist. He has toured extensively with Siamsa Tire.
Tomás O Sé is also a Munster, All-Ireland and World champion and a fine box player to boot. He performs regularly with his family and is delighted to be making a return to his grandmoter Ann Gilbert's home place of Lixnaw. Lixnaw music teacher Maura Walsh is the producer of the tour.
