SCORES attended a fundraiser in Tanavalla in Saturday's scorching weather that will make all the difference to the Listowel and north Kerry branch of the MS Society into the future.
Organised by member Gary Carter, the fundraising day saw Sporting Listowel taking on the Listowel Celtic 'B' team in an exciting clash that brought a nice crowd out to the Celtic grounds in Tanavalla. Sporting Listowel proved the victors on a scoreline of 6 goals to 3, marking the end of the soccer and the start of the move up to Christy's in the Square - where the landlord laid on a fantastic barbeque.
"It was a great day and the weather really made it, we had it ordered by special request," Gary joked.
"There was a great atmosphere in the Celtic grounds and the barbecue afterwards in Christy's was fantastic. We had so much food donated from local businesses it was unbelieveable, businesses in Listowel are incredibly generous."
Meanwhile, the annual MS Busking Day on Friday - which saw musicians Jim Quinn and Joe Lynch playing practically continuously in the Small Square from 11am until 6pm - represented another great intake of vital funds for the organisation.
"It was wonderful and the music makes all the difference, lending an atmosphere to the collection day and keeping people entertained," Gary said.
