CORCA Dhuibhne sent out a call to Mná na hÉireann this week as details were revealed of a new women's mini-marathon to be held in Dingle this year.
The inaugural Dingle Women's Mini Marathon is to be held on Saturday, May 18, and organisers hope the 10km run will beome a permanent fixture on the peninsula's sporting calander.
According to Seán O'Sullivan of the organising committee, this mini-marathon is intended to cater for women of all levels of fitness with walkers, joggers and runners encouraged to take part.
"The Dingle Women's Mini Marathon will provide a great opportunity to the women of West Kerry and beyond to come together, go out training and get into a healthy routine as the days get longer," he said.
The mini-marathon is a community-based, non-profit event with the development of a football pitch and running track at Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne set to be the main beneficiary from registration fees. Participants will also be given the opportunity to raise money for the Dingle Mini Marathon charity partner, Action Breast Cancer'
