IN news that will be welcomed by those involved in Kerry's tourism sector, Ryanair has announced it is to launch eight new routes from Shannon Airport to Britain and the continent.
The new routes will provide 200,000 new seats next year from April and 300,000 seats per annum in a full year into Shannon Airport, which has struggled with falling passenger numbers in recent years.
The new routes will serve Berlin, Munich, Paris, Warsaw, Krakow, Faro, Fuerteventura in the Canaries and Nice. The airline also said that it will increase services on its Shannon-Stansted route.
The deal will mean passenger growth of almost 15 per cent at Shannon Airport next year. Ryanair traffic at the airport is expected to grow from 450,000 passengers per annum to 700,000 per annum.
