'I'll fight for airport funding'

JUNIOR Transport Minister Alan Kelly signalled at the Labour Party conference in Killarney at the weekend that he would do everything in his power to ensure the retention of Public Service Obligation funding for Kerry Airport, after a motion was passed by the Labour party at their conference in Killarney this weekend in support of the issue.

Local senator Marie Maloney brought the motion forward, stating she wants "to ensure that the future of Kerry Airport remains high on the party and government's agenda."

The current contract on PSO funding is set to run out in September 2014 and Senator Maloney believes that "without the PSO funding, which subsidises regional airports in Kerry and Donegal, the future of these airports would be in jeopardy."
