House raided during mass

CALLOUS thieves broke into a house in Ballyheigue and stole cash while the owner was attending Sunday morning Mass in the village at the weekend.

The Kerryman understands that a small amount of cash was stolen from the home in the Dirtane area after the thief or thieves broke in through a rear window sometime between 9.30am and 10.30am.

Gardaí carried out a forensic examination of the scene and they ask anyone who might have noticed suspicious activity on Sunday morning to contact them in Ballyheigue or Listowel.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Listowel are investigating a break-in to St Michael's College secondary school in the town on Tuesday night last. While nothing was stolen, the burglars caused €100-worth of damage when they broke a window.

Gardai ask anyone with information to contact them at Listowel Garda Station.
