Going for Macra final

A SERIES of comedy sketches featuring 14 members of Macra clubs across Kerry has earned Kerry Macra a coveted place in this weekend's semi-finals of the FBD Capers Competition.
The team competed against five other Macra clubs from across Munster at the quarter-finals of the competition and impressed the judges enough to book their place in the penultimate round in Wexford this Saturday night.
Progression to the semi-final of the competition has come as a great honour, and somewhat surprise, to the club, which has not taken part in the comedy drama competition for several years. Kerry Macra secretary, Niall Groves, explained that because they hadn't been involved as a club for quite some time, they were allowed enter a 'rainbow' team made up of representatives from all four clubs in Kerry; Causeway, Kilmoyley, Kenmare and Mid-Kerry.
And if making it through to the semi-finals wasn't enough excitement for the performers, the club also picked up two additional awards at the quarter-finals stage - John Mike Fitzgerald of Kilmoyley Macra picking up the 'Best Male' gong and Niall Riordan from Kenmare taking the 'Best Act' title.
