AS they continue their ongoing crackdown on drug dealing across the county, Tralee gardaí have seized cannabis worth €75,000 following the targeted search of a house in the town on Monday. This was the second significant seizure of cannabis in the town in the past week, following the seizure last week of €25,000 worth of the drug in a town centre house.

At around 7.45pm on Monday night members of the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit, acting on a warrant, carried out a search of a house in the Cul Doire estate in the Killeen area. The search, which formed part of an ongoing garda investigation into drug dealing in the county, uncovered cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €75,000.

A 26 year old woman who was arrested at the scene was detained and questioned at Tralee Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act and was later released having been charged in relation to the drugs seizure.

The woman is due to appear before Tralee District Court today (Wednesday). The drugs have been sent to the Garda forensic laboratory in Dublin for analysis.

Monday's find is the second significant cannabis seizure in Tralee in a week. On Monday March 24 cannabis with an estimated value of €25,000 was found following the search of a house in the St John's Park estate. A man is currently before the courts in relation to that seizure.

There has been no indication or suggestion that the two seizures are linked.
