Mary was born in Tralee in March, 1927 to George and Hannah Webster. She attended Moyderwell School and worked as a book-keeper in Sloanes and the Munster Warehouse in Tralee before marrying Jack Lawlor from Ballyheigue, a teacher, and moving to London in 1960.

Jack and Mary spent many happy years and brought up two children in London. In 1995, following Jack's retirement, they returned to Tralee.

Sadly, Jack died suddenly only a year later, but Mary decided to stay on in her beloved Tralee and spent many more happy years there, enjoying the company of friends and relations, as well as frequent visits from her family in London. Mary was admitted to Kerry General Hospital on Monday, November 19 and died peacefully there on Wednesday, November 28.

Her funeral took place at St John's Parish Church with burial in Old Rath.

She leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Dolla Webster; son George John and daughter Anne-Marie; daughter-in-law Helen and sonin-law Nick and grandchildren Benedict, Francesca, Fergus, Ned, Thea and Gregory.
