Past and present Rose of Tralee International Festival organisers came together among the radiant roses in Tralee Town Park to announce details of this year’s Gala Rose Ball in the Dome on Friday 16th August. Serving up a treat were former Festival President Con O’Connor (left), former Festival Chairperson June Carey (centre) were joined by the current General Manager Oliver Hurley, Assistant General Manager Valerie Kerins and Festival Team Volunteer John O’Donnell.

IT'S the glitziest and most glamorous event on Kerry's social calendar and already tickets for this year's Rose Ball are selling fast.

This year's ball will be the focal point of the Rose of Tralee's Roase Gathering celebrations and hundreds of former Roses, escorts and festival volunteers and staff are expected to descend on Tralee for what promises to be a night full of reunions and happy memories.

The Gala Rose Ball takes place at the Rose Dome at Fels Point on Friday August 16 and this year tickets have been reduced in price, to €125 per person, to mark the gathering celebrations.

The General Manager of the Rose of Tralee International Festival, Oliver Hurley, said he looking forward to welcoming many old friends back to Tralee for this year's festival.

"Many of the festival's old friends have chosen the Rose Ball as the centrepiece of their visit to the town for the Rose Gathering. This event continues to be the highlight of the year for many people and once again there will be a spectacular night of entertainment on show," he said.

"This event is always very well attended by visitors to Tralee and by members of the locality who continue to support the Festival in many different ways. We appreciate this support and we look forward to welcoming back many familiar faces as well as some new faces," said Oliver Hurley.

This year's Rose Ball will commence with a champagne reception in the Rose Pavilion followed by a banquet and then music from Rose Ball regulars Brass and Co. Local favourite Chris Shortt will round-off the night with a disco.

Anyone who registers for the Rose Gathering can avail of Gathering offers which include free and discounted tickets to a number of events, including Sharon Shannon in the Dome on Thursday August 15.
