European flag flies at Knocknagoshel school
Munster MEP Seán Kelly raised the European flag at Scoil Mhuire, Knocknagoshel during his recent visit to the village school to celebrate it's successful participation in the Blue Star programme of 2012/2013 and the beginning of their participation in the 2013/2014 programme.
The Blue Star Programme is a national Irish primary school initiative which aims to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it affects the lives of its citizens through classroom projects and activities.
Parents, teachers and members of the local community welcomed Mr. Kelly to the school, where he was treated to an exhibition of the children's work and a showcase of their Blue Star projects.
He also enjoyed a musical interlude provided by the talented pupils in the course of his visit.
European Movement Ireland (EM Ireland), an independent, voluntary, not-for-profit organisation, is the national implementation body for the Blue Star Programme as it is rolled out to primary schools across the country during the 2013-2014 academic year.
