Castleisland Parish is ready and waiting for the Mission team of Limerick based Redemptorist and the event has been at the top of the agenda of a series of planning meetings over the last three months.
There is a very strong youth involvement with the mission. Pupils from the secondary schools in the area led a call for Elma Walsh - mother of the late and celebrated Donal Walsh - to come and talk to them. The theme of Mrs. Walsh's talk will be 'Keeping Faith - Finding Hope' and this will be held on Wednesday evening, February 26, in the parish church at 7 p.m.
The theme of the Mission is 'Come as You Are' and it's an open invitation to all to attend including those who do not go to Mass regularly.
The mission will involve masses each morning and a mission session each evening from the coming Sunday, February 23 to Friday 28.
"There will be a different theme for each night with the opening night focused on celebrating community with almost 100 groups taking part.
We are inviting all schools, groups and originations in the locality who would like to be involved in the opening ceremony on the Sunday night, to please contact Castleisland Parish Office as soon as possible," said a spokesperson at the office.
The parish office is opened from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The final night will be on the theme of family and relationships and the special guest will be Bishop Ray Browne.
The Mission will end with a Parish Gathering in the River Island Hotel.
