2012 is shaping up to be a great year for Cill Chúile native and newlywed Dáithí Ó Sé as RTÉ announced last week that the West Kerry man is one of the presenters of a new afternoon show.
The new show – named TODAY – shall be broadcasted live from Cork from Monday to Friday and will air on RTE1 from November 5.
Rose of Tralee host Dáithí will join RTÉ afternoon regulars Marie Derrane (who attended his wedding in Dingle and Tralee last July) and Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh (who was a judge on the All-Ireland Talent Show with Dáithí) in fronting the show.
The show will be broadcast during the afternoon from Monday to Thursday with Dáithí, Máire and Bláthnaid while Norah Casey of Dragons' Den (who recently filled in for Vincent Browne during the summer on his late night show) will front the Friday 'allfemale' edition.
Dáithí, Bláthnaid and Máire will chat to three guests in studio every day along with regional reports from around the country.
"My first job after college was teaching in Cork," Dáithí told The Kerryman this week, "also my sister is there so I am really looking forward to it."
Working in Cork won't see the Kerryman abandon any footballing loyalties however, as Dáithí added, "plus the fact Cork didn't win the All-Ireland this year makes it easier!"
