FOR the third year in succession, Oíché Cultúr (Culture Night) will be celebrated in the Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht, with events kicking off in Dingle and back west this Friday night.
West Kerry visual artist Andrew Duggan and musician Ronán Ó Snodaigh have joined with choreographer Ríonach Ní Néill to prepare 'Aistriú', an innovative work created in response to paintings from the National Gallery's collection. The work will be presented and projected in Dublin's National Gallery from 5pm to 9.30pm and simultaneously in An Lab in Dingle from 7pm.
An Lab, which is located on John Street, will also play host to two musical events on the night. 'Caithread Sreang' perform Schubert's 'Death and the Maiden' at 7pm before 'Soundscape', a jazz fusion and painting event, takes place at 9.30pm. An Lab will also host a new exhibition from local artists Deirdre and Ciara McKenna which opens at 7pm.
A literary workshop and reception, featuring published and soon-to-be-published writers from An Sagart will also takes place at An Díseart in Green Street at 7.30pm.
Comhar Ealaíontóirí an Daingin will also present an exhibition at their premises at Upper Main Street, featuring Abigail Joffe, Áine Ní Chíobháin, agus Ciara Ní Fhloinn at 8pm and at 9pm.
Down Pucaí's Lane, Puca Press will present a magical theatre of shadows and light created by Dominique Lieb.
Other musical events will take place in Museum Chorca Dhuibhne in Baile an Fheirteáraigh from 5.30 – 7pm.
