LAST year's Earnst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Dairymaster boss Edmond Harty, will represent Ireland at the World Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards in Monte Carlo this weekend.
The Causeway businessman will be among 49 national winners from across the globe who will be inducted into the World Entrepreneur of The Year Hall of Fame and compete for the world title, the winner of which will be announced at a gala on Saturday.
Describing his selection as a huge honour, Mr Harty said that representing Ireland on the world stage is also recognition of what has been achieved by the Dairymaster team at the Causeway-based manufacturer of dairy systems.
"It will also allow us to showcase the best of Irish agribusiness and technology on a world stage, " he said. "Being the winner for Ireland has been incredibly positive for our business. It has enhanced our profile and recognition with customers, staff, our families and in the wider Irish business community. It has opened doors for us domestically and internationally."
Paying tribute to Mr Harty, Frank O'Keeffe, partner-in-charge of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year, said he represents the very best of what Ireland has to offer on a global stage, particularly in the agribusiness sector.
"Ireland is now regarded globally as a truly entrepreneurial country and I'm delighted to see such a terrific entrepreneur represent Ireland for the world title at the awards this year," he said.
The overall winner will be chosen by an independent judging panel, a distinguished group of former Entrepreneur Of The Year winners. The award is given on the basis of six criteria allowing all country winners an equal opportunity to compete on entrepreneurial spirit, financial performance, strategic direction, innovation, global impact and personal integrity/influence.
The awards ceremony will be streamed live from Monte Carlo via webcast, with coverage starting at approximately 7.45pm. (www.ey.com/weoy)
