A TRALEE cyclist who was critically injured in a traffic accident in the town last Wednesday night died tragically at the weekend.

Siobhán Moriarty Fitzgerald, pictured right, from Ashleigh Downs, suffered head injuries when she was involved in a collision with a car as she cycled in Rathass at around 8pm last Wednesday evening.

The mum of two, who was aged in her early forties and originally from Old Marian Park, was rushed to Kerry General Hospital where she remained in a critical condition for four days before succumbing to her injuries on Sunday night.

It is understood she was on her way to visit a relative when the accident occurred, having opted to use a bike instead of her car, which was ready for its NCT the next day.
