DANNY Healy Rae was branded the ' king of rezoning' by council colleague Brendan Cronin in a boisterous start to Kerry County Council's meeting in Cloumacon on Monday.
Cllr Healy Rae got straight to business at the opening of the meeting by loudly rejecting the An Taisce report of last week which criticised the authority's recent planning history - for overzoning during the boom years. He also criticised a number of council colleagues, however, for stating their support for the current dezoning publicly in the fallout from the report in Kerry media last week.
As the chamber erupted in response, Cllr Brendan Cronin weighed in with the exclamation of most comic thrust: "The King of rezoning!"
Order was restored as Cllr John Brassil pointed out that there was no arguing with the findings of the An Taisce report.
