Cinderella - with a twist!

Published 22/01/2014 | 05:36

Transition Year students from Colaiste Ide agus Iosef who will be performing Cinderella this week are: Daniel Leahy, Andrea Collins, Kerrie Ann Finucane, Jackie Hartnett, Deirdre O'Connor, Joanna Maynard, Muireann Hickey and Ashling Scanlon.

IT'S being billed as 'a production like none before - with an Abbeyfeale twist', so it's no surprise that the upcoming production of Cinderella by the students of Colaiste Ide Agus Iosef is the talk of the town at present.

The transition year class at the Abbeyfeale school have been busily preparing for their musical production of the classic fairy tale and are all set to take the stage at the school this Thursday and Friday, January 23 and 24 at 7.30pm.

The two-hour show will be a somewhat modern take on the familiar old story, with some contemporary song and dance thrown in for good measure. Given that this is the first musical ever staged at the school, the cast members are understandably aprehensive about their debut performance but, with director Miriam Ball at the helm, a superb show is guaranteed.

Transition year co -ordinator, Con Healy, also has plenty of confidence in his team and promises audiences that they certainly have a treat in store.

"Our musical Cinderella promises to be a spectacular production with lots of recent up-to-date songs and dance routines like 'Wings' by Little Mix," he said. "It is two hours of fun and laughter with larger than life characters. Cinderella is a production like none before, with an Abbeyfeale twist."

Tickets for the show cost €10 and every ticket purchased will be entered into a draw for a great door prize.

Tickets are also on sale through the school by phoning (068) 30631
