Charities chosen at Races AGM

IT was announced that the proceeds from the 2014 Castleisland Races meeting will be distributed as follows: Proceeds from the Humphrey Murphy Memorial Fun Run to Glebe Lodge. Acquired Brain Injury Ireland is to receive the bulk of the race day gate receipts.
Castleisland Tidy Towns Committee will also receive a donation it was revealed at Friday night's races committee AGM at Tom McCarthy Bar.
At the same meeting the following officers were elected: President: Paddy Maher; Vice President: Vincent Murphy; Chairman: Charlie Farrelly: Vice Chairman Ted Kenny: Secretary: Kay Reidy; Assistant secretary Martina O'Mahoney; Treasurers: Ronan Burke and John Ryan; Safety Officer: Tom O'Sullivan and PRO: Pat Hartnett.
Executive committee members: Willie Reidy, Mags O'Sullivan, Rachel O'Mahoney, Bill Reidy, James Maher, Sean Walsh, Martin Conway and John Reidy,
The following charities benefitted from the 2013 races: Glege Lodge €1,675; Castleisland Social Club €500; Kerry/Cork Cancer Bus €1000. €100 each went to the following: Castleisland Day Care Centre; Recovery Haven and Aquired Brain Injury.
The 2014 race meeting will be held in Powell's Road on Sunday, June 15. The committee is extremely grateful to the following: Maurice Brosnan on whose lands the races are held; its many generous sponsors who support it and the many charities every year. A special vote of thanks also emerged from the meeting to Mort Reidy and Patrick O'Leary of R.O.L Building Contractors London who have agreed to remain on board as the committee's main sponsor for 2014.
