1. GROUPS WITH PARTICULAR NEEDS

CLOSING DATE: 30TH NOVEMBER 2012

This category includes community projects which respond to the exclusion certain groups encounter through poverty, poor education or life skills. Eligible projects in this category could involve work at a community level to promote inclusion, participation, greater job opportunities, improved income and educational opportunities or the development of social and community networks.

2. GROUPS SUPPORTING ENVIRONMENT & HERITAGE

CLOSING DATE: 30TH NOVEMBER 2012

This award refers to projects carried out by groups concerned with the preservation, protection and promotion of Kerry's natural environment or projects carried out by groups concerned with the preservation, protection and promotion of Kerry's heritage.

3. COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE & INNOVATION OR LOCAL ENTERPRISE & INNOVATION

CLOSING DATE: 30TH NOVEMBER 2012

A community enterprise is a business or venture that advances its primary aim using business methods. Community enterprises include both non-profits that use business models to pursue their mission and for-profits whose primary purposes are social. Eligible projects could include those that promote and sustain the growth of an area's economy, improve living standards, encourage tourism, encourage regeneration and tackle social exclusion. 4. COMMUNITY ARTS, CULTURE & THE GAELTACHT

CLOSING DATE: 8TH FEBRUARY 2013

This category refers to projects involving communities expressing themselves through an art form or cultural activity. Projects that promote the unique culture of the Gaeltacht are particularly welcome in this category.

5. COMMUNITY SPIRIT & NEIGHBOURLINESS (MEITHEAL)

CLOSING DATE: 8TH FEBRUARY 2013

This category is an attempt to reward community effort and the often intangible concepts such as civic pride, inclusion and collective effort which drive a community to achieve greatness. The focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their local area. The category is linked to the national Pride of Place competition.

6. YOUTH PROJECTS

CLOSING DATE: 8TH FEBRUARY 2013

The committee is looking for innovative ideas from young people on ways to improve their communities. The project can be something that young people have carried out in their community or an idea for improving the community. The project can benefit young people or can benefit another group in the community or the wider community.
