PEOPLE were found in a public house in Listowel at 5.28am on January 15 of last year, resulting in a fine of €300 for the publican at Listowel District Court on Thursday.
The fine was imposed on Fergus Flanagan, of Flanagan's Bar, 12 Church Street, Listowel. Gardaí said they heard noise coming from the bar and, after the owner opened the door to them, they found six people inside.
Solicitor Pat Enright said friends were playing cards with the defendant after closing on the night and "it wasn't a case of the public still being in the bar as such." Mr Flanagan has since given up the lease of the bar.
