A LISTOWEL crew won one of the biggest yacht races in the country for the second year in a row at the weekend.
Skipper Derek Dillon, wife Suzanne, son Conor and Pat Hannon beat scores of other yachts in four days' sailing at Calves Week in Schull, Co Cork. They won aboard the Big Deal which they race out of Foynes Yacht Club along with friends from the west Limerick club.
Calves Week is one of the top yacht racing competitions in the country, attracting hundreds of boats every year in a variety of different classes.
"It was fantastic," Pat Hannon said. "We're delighted to have won two years in a row, coming up from class three to class two this year!"
"We have a good crew, but Derek played a massive part as our skipper. It's all about tactics, knowing when to go for it and when to ease off," Pat added.
