CASTLE Meats Butchers proprietors Tom Browne and Denis Cronin celebrated their first year in business outside their premises on Main Street on Saturday week. The important milestone was marked publicly and with great style and generosity with a tasty, street-side barbeque outside No. 95 on the eve of that weekend's All Ireland Football Finals.
It was on that day last year that these two young men optimistically opened the door for the first time.
Tom's father William Browne and his grandfather Tom Browne had operated Browne's Shop and Butchers further down on Main Street for many years. People of a certain vintage from Castleisland and the surrounding areas will remember shopping in Tom Browne's.
Denis Cronin, an experienced butcher by trade and well known for his turn of phrase and daily banter, makes up the duo in Castle Meats Butchers.
"Shopping local and supporting small businesses should always be encouraged and promoted as much as possible as it's the heartbeat of towns like Castleisland," said Grainne Browne with great gusto and sincerity and her heart on her sleeve. Good luck to the boys for the future.
