It's all go and no stopping at the locally based Sliabh Luachra Boxing Club in recent times.
With the successful hosting of the county championships under their collective belt since February 16, last the club has seen a couple of its boxers progress through the Munster championships in early March.
One of the boxers, Brandon Murphy made it to the gold medal slot after a few tough fights against stylist opposition from famous clubs in Limerick and Cork.
Brandon is now Dublin bound for the national championship semi-finals where he will step into the ring on this Friday.
Club coach, John O'Connell feels confident that their boxer has what it takes to go all the way in his division. And we all wish them luck in their efforts.
Meanwhile, Katie Taylor's influence is obvious on the gym floor and in the ring at the local club as more girls are joining up and donning the gloves with hopes and dreams.
However, one club member, Saoirse Kelly is heading for the Munster championship finals on the 13th of this month and there are high hopes that she can add to the club's growing list of notable achievements.
John O'Connell and fellow club coach, Eddie O'Shea feel that Saoirse has the experience and mental strength to bring another Munster title to the rejuvenated club. Good luck to them all.
