OVER 200 lambs were on show at the Kerry Black Face Sheep Breeders' Association's Ram Show and Sale on Saturday as interest in the event come from the entire length of the western seaboard.
Held at Milltown Mart, one visitor is certainly no stranger to the show and at 99 years of age, Michael Fleming has become an institution amongst breeders.
One of the founding members of the Kerry association which is itself one of the oldest in Ireland - it was formed 60 years ago - Fossa man Michael hasn't missed a meeting in over half a century.
A former chairman of 25 years and later president of the association, Michael helped organise the first annual sheep sale in Kerry at the Fair Hill, Killarney, in 1952 and it ran at that venue for two decades.
Later, he bought the first 10 lambs sold at Milltown Mart in 1971 and is accredited with helping to secure the long term future of the venue.
